Gorthi Devi Sri Prasad, widely known as Devi Sri Prasad or simply DSP, is an Indian music composer, playback singer, lyricist, and performer whose work spans Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. Born in 1979 in Vedurupaka, Andhra Pradesh, India, he is the son of noted Telugu writer G. Satyamurthy. He emerged as a composer in the late 1990s and became one of the defining musical voices of contemporary South Indian cinema.
DSP first gained major recognition with the Telugu film Devi (1999), a breakthrough that established his energetic, melody-driven style. Over the following decades, he became a dominant force in Telugu film music while expanding successfully into Tamil and Hindi productions. His catalog include projects such as “Yolo,” “Fire Song,” “Un Paarvayil,” “Mannimpu,” and “Kozhi Veda Kozhi,” demonstrating his ability to compose across romantic, devotional, folk, dance, and action-oriented soundscapes.
Beyond composing, DSP is a successful playback singer known for his high-energy vocal performances and live stage presence. He has worked with many of the leading filmmakers and actors in Indian cinema and has released music through major labels, including Saregama India Ltd. His achievements place him among the most honored artists in Indian film music. He has received the National Film Award for Best Music Direction, the Nandi Award, multiple Filmfare Awards South, SIIMA Awards, and CineMAA Awards, reflecting sustained critical and commercial success across several film industries.
With a career spanning more than two decades and an active release schedule continuing through 2025, Devi Sri Prasad remains a major creative force in South Asian film music.
